Firsts this Fall

Since winter appears to be creeping up on us (Brrrr!), I'd better get in a few fall posts. Here are a few things that are firsts for us this fall.

First day of preschool! Lily loves preschool and has grown up a lot - learning school rules, new songs, some words in Spanish, and making new friends...

First "big girl" dance class. In this one I can say, thank goodness for a dance teacher who knows and loves Lily. Lily loves dance class and is learning the ballet positions. She can't keep her eyes off the floor-to-ceiling dance mirrors, which can make forward rolls/somersaults a little tricky, but, as in most things, Lily has her own way of dance!
First duck football game! We picked a rainy one to attend, but Lily had a great time. She loved the big inflatable Duck and enjoyed the people watching. She made it through a rainy first half and wasn't really ready to go at half time, though she had decided it was "too wet" out there!

A first of my own - my first 5K - the Race for the Cure Eugene. I had to be talked into this one, but ended up enjoying the training races with Cassadie (pushing kids in the jogging strollers to play at the wetlands) and am actually still running. The day of the race was miserable, but we completed it. Cassadie has gone on to longer and bigger races, while I hope to do another 5K.

Lily entertained herself with a friend (Lily is on the right in the pink kitty raincoat). Thank goodness for rain coats and boots that day!
We did it!

Not to be outdone, Lily's next first was a kids fun run on the morning of Cassadie's half marathon. She was among the last ones to cross the finish line - running with your hands in your pockets will slow you down - will somebody help her out with that form?!

But, Lily was proud of her medal...
and posed at the finish line with Jack...
really just waiting to get to the donut shop where we ate donuts while Cassadie sweated it out during the half marathon. Doesn't everyone celebrate finishing a race with a donut?!
Happy Fall!
